Ich bin verliebt mit... ROM!!!

(image heavy post ahead!! :))
And also many countries!
Also, in the future I wish to try with a couple entries in my poor German. I'll try later, I guess.
(post pesado en imágenes aquí!! :))

I will now try to show you a little about countries or places that I want to visit or I have seen, why I like them, what makes me love them and stuff. So, here you have the amazing Rome!!! I stayed in Rome for five days. Not even close to be enough for such a magnificent city, but effort was done. Everything in this city is worth seeing. The streets seemed incredibly beautiful to me, every little corner was very different to the cities I know, I fancied everything in the city and tried to appreciate all the details everywhere. Details are an important part of this city, you must pay attention to all, and you probably will notice that there are a lot more than you could think, from art to crime. The people are very fond of taking care of their apearance, and things like skin care seem to be routine for them, unlike for many of us, at least here in Mexico, that is an effort you have to take. If you, like me, like to see churches and sacred art, this is your goddamn place!!
Now please, go through my memories about this lovely place. I hope you like it.

Look at this kind of scaffold here. The underground, or "hypogeum" was covered entirely with it, and was used to keep prisoners, animals, weapons, water.... lots of stuff! This was made mostly under the orders of Domitian.

The original name of this building in Latin was Amphitheatrum Flavium. It is the largest amphiteatrum ever built *--*

The name "Colosseum" has its origin in a giant statue of Nero that was nearby

I didn't knew because I'm very very ignorant, of course, and not smart enough to suspect, but this place is important for christianism because it was a place where lots of martyrs from christianity were subjected to torture. Blorgh :(
Blorgh :(

From the Colosseum you can also see the Arch of Constantine. A really amazing place this is *-*

Haha, his hands :D
Jaja, sus manos :D

It might seem like boring or repetitive, but you must see every angle of this building. You will soon find yourself thinking about the magnificence of the Roman Empire, or maybe, like me, feeling thankful that you didn't lived at the same time as Nero!
You... get off the metro,  go out the station... and you see this!!! you see the Colisseum just outside! For me, this was like getting of the metro and watching the Sun Pyramid of Teotihuacan or something. Asdadasfadsadasfd <3 <3
Asdadasfadsadasfd <3 <3

If you continue walking, from the Colisseum, and you pass the arch of Constantine, you will now see the Palatine Hill. OMG. We were in this place too late, so we found it closed...

And still, it allowed a good aesthetic experience!

Near the latest point, here is the Alltare della Patria, or National Monument to Victor Emmanuel II

Victor Emanuel II was the first king of the unified Italy.

It features many fountains, many Corinthian columns, lots of stairs, the sculpture of Vittorio Emmanuele of course, and also lots of bearded men that many women drooled over.

Man, this is such a magnificent city. Roman citizens seemed to be super well groomed and well dressed ALL THE TIME! I love it. Also, they seemed very very busy and stressed, but despite of that, they were always polite and very educated, many of them tried to help others whenever they could, for example, if you look extremely puzzled, or you seem to not understand very well. They offer to talk in English, but also they seemed to understand my Spanish, at least a little.
Me encanta.

don't you think the streets look so cool? They are so much alike downtown in Mexico City *O * ohh so dreamy.

Ohhh my. Lots of corners had this things, are they like those little shrines to the Virgin Mary here in Mexico City? They had many saints and virgins from christianism. But overall, they were G O R G E O U S as hell.
Ohhh my.

Near the most turistic places, it's always crowded.

The Santi Vicenzo e Anastasio a Trevi church. Jesus Christ, it's not a big church but it's so gorgeous! asdasdasd. Lots of baroque art inside, and you can see here a little part of the travertine facade. asdasdsaafs <3

Also I think the Roman citizens are very alike us in Mexico City, but maybe we have... a different dressing style :P

They all want to throw stuff to the Trevi Fountain or take pics adasdasd. I didn't particularly wanted to go there but it's nice anyway.
Here, the magnificent sculptures of Oceanus taming the waters and slaying hippocamps and being fabulous.

This is the largest baroque fountain here in Rome.  It was the last point for the three main aqueducts in the city.

Here is the base of the Column of the Immaculate Conception, of the Blessed Virgin Mary,  in the Piazza di Spagna. Here, our horned friend, the patriarch Moses. ;3

can you believe my dumbness? I forgot where I took this picture because argh. It's not any less amazing tho.

Here, the Castel Sant Angelo from afar... :3
Aquí, el Castel Sant Angelo desde lejos... :3
Now we will see a little of the Vatican. I hated this place, despite the gorgeous art work found here. Everything here resembles the oppresive and hateful system of catholic church, from the most subtle to the most direct and aggresive ways to control and opress people. This worsens a lot if you're a woman, because you are required to cover yourself EVERY SECOND. Men, they have the right of uncovering if the weather is hot. But you MUST DAMN COVER YOURSELF. EVERY SINGLE
TIME. And you must "show respect" to this religion that rarely shows respect for anything. At first I wanted to go to every (extremely expensive) museum here, but after spending time here in the public parts, I didn't wanted to go further. The Vatican state must not have my money. But oh!

The crowded st. Peter's square. Argh, those lovely and majestic columns, it's so good to be next to them in this damn hot weather of hell...

Here we go, to the st. Peter's basilica!

Good Lord. Every detail must remind you who's in charge. It's not god, my friends. Nonono.
Señor nuestro. Cada detalle debe recordarte quien manda. No es dios, mis amigos. Nonono.

Sweet baby Jesus. Every detail deserves to be appreciated, but you simply can't! it's too crowded, or moving too fast...
Santo jesus cristo.

or there's a goddamn priest in every column telling you to cover yourself! a r g h I can't.

why is that there are some people who don't love baroque architecture? asgfafsafad

look this cuties here :3
miren estos linditos de aquí :3

Ok, I uploaded this thing 3 times and it goes tilted, why?? why god you hate me? XD

h n f f f   I love golden finishings, they are such a blessing!!

Here we go, off the Vatican. I hope that if I ever come back, christianity can be just another part of history.

Here is my Italian gelato. Hehehehe. We have also good things too, for example, here in Neverolandia, near Mixcoac, in Mexico City. I felt like us and Romans were brothers while eating this delicious thing.

My dears, now we are in the Santa Maria dell'Anima church!!! guess what? this is a German church, founded by Dutch merchants :B. I loved it so much!!!
Me gustó muchísimo!!!

And now my friends, the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and the Martyrs, designed by Michelangelo as himself.
This church is located where the frigidarium, or pool with cold water from the baths of Diocletian should be located, outside the church it is the caldarium  or pool with hot water.

Here we have a  very recently made sculpture,  the John The Baptist head, by Polish sculptor Igor Mitoraj.
This basilica is dedicated to the Virgin Mary,  the angels, and to the Christian slaves who built the baths.

Here it is the altar of the Immaculate Conception, painted by Bianchi

This is part of the meridian line, by Francesco Bianchini. His gnomon projects the sun's image onto his line just before solar noon in October.
Bianchini's sundial was built along the meridian that crosses Rome.

The meridian line is a bronze line on the floor, with yellow marble around it. Along the line you can see squares depicting the constellations, and the sun is supposed to pass along them when it is entering one of the zodiac signs. Also there are indications of the distance of the star projected in that point.

This columns were originally 2 meters higher, as originally planned by Michelangelo.

So, here we go to our last place in this beautiful city, the Baths of Diocletian, where the Basilica we just saw is integrated.
Here we go, to the baths of Diocletian!!! *O* Outside the Frigidarium

gnothi sauton, or know yourself. This greek aphorism is mostly attributed to Heraclitus, which you already know is one of my favorite beings that ever existed. I owe so much to him and I was exactly in front of this amazing memento mori mosaic with the very same aphorism written on it, jesus mary and joseph.
gnothi sauton, o conócete a ti mismo.

ehrmahgehrd I can't remember ; _; I'm so extremely sorry. I love this so much because of the disposition of the elements, the expression in this man's face, the cat, the holygoddamn door!! it's a functional door for christ's sake and it has food and tools and asfafdaasd - I'm dying, brb.

This corridors show lots of roman sculptures, you can recognize some faces in the streets of Rome that still look like their old governors or even like gods!

The gardens and building of the National Museum of Rome, which was, of course, the Cloister of the Charterhouse, also attributed to Michelangelo. It is said that each monk here had a house, a garden and a chapel of his own. In the middle there is a fountain with more statues, but these are only statues of animals.

My dears. I hope the love for Rome has ignited inside your hearts. I really hope you go there soon because it is so amazing and I'm sure you all will see different things that need to be shared with the world!!
When I was there, I was thinking all the time about how similar are the people from Mexico City and Rome, and I felt so happy and welcomed here, even with all the evident discrepancies like their religion. People there are tolerant and they try to help if it's possible, for which I'm really thankful. I cannot wait to go again.
And now I want to ask all of you, have you been there? do you want to go? which part is your favorite, what do you want to see? Share your travel fantasies with me! I want to read all from you guys. See you soon!! :3
No puedo esperar a volver.
